The Rules are Numerous and at Times Hard to Interpret
It is the Integrity and discipline of the Golfer that makes the Rules Worth Following.

I just wanted to make the National Officers aware of an action by Gaylord Oglesby that I feel should be communicated to our membership body. Daniel Pruitt's hole in one Sunday was a great accomplishment, but Gaylord's action is an example of demonstrated integrity that should be communicated as well.

On the 18th hole of a cart match play competition that was all square, Gaylord birdied the hole and his cart won the match 1-up. Gaylord later realized he had played the wrong ball at some point on the 18th hole. The penalty for playing the wrong ball in match play is a loss of hole. Gaylord's cart mate did not finish the hole which means their cart competitors won the hole and subsequently the match. Gaylord called Ralph Kelley Monday to let him know what happened and that he would be mailing back the $40 to be sent to their cart competitors. It is not a great deal of money, but it is impressive to see any golfer call a penalty on himself that causes a loss of a match or tournament. Especially when no one would have known the difference and he could have kept it quiet.

I just wanted to let you all know and hopefully you can let the rest of the membership know about a small act of integrity that speaks volumes about the kind of members we have in Pro-Duffers USA Inc.
