General Meeting
June 19, 2003
Meeting called to Order at 7:20 p.m. by Chapter President - Warren Lee

National President’s Report – Tom Sweeney
National meeting is scheduled for September 25 – 28, 2003 in Hilton Head, SC. Deadline to register is August 19th, 2003; Tom strongly suggested that we register early. In addition, a request was made for members to complete the survey that resides on our website.
Five SW Chapter members made the trip to Houston to induct new members into the Pro Duffer organization. It was unanimous that we have a group of quality members and players (approximately 42 on the roster) that will represent us well! Congratulations Houston!

Tournament Committee – Jerome Caulk
Tournament director Jerome Caulk reported a balance of $3,111.67. Report accepted as information only. In addition, there were two returned checks from the last Tournament which will be followed up on for resolution.
2003 Benefit Tournament – Russ Cuffee
Chairman Cuffee reported that Sponsorship efforts are going well, however:
| we need to be very aggressive in lining up our registered players. Each SW chapter is still expected to deliver a minimum of $400 in financial contributions…this commitment can be met in a number of ways (ex., obtaining sponsorships, selling ads, etc.) Please see Russ if you would like him to “customize” a packet for potential sponsors, make marketing presentations, or have additional questions. Our deadline for obtaining sponsor commitments is June 30th. | |
| Since our last meeting, Coca Cola has confirmed they will donate soft drinks and water and Miller will provide libations as well. | |

20th Anniversary – Dan Evans
Dan Evans asked that members decide asap on whether they will attend the Fall Retreat…This is critical so that we can determine what should be on the agenda, and facilitate menue selections. Post cards will be sent and voice mail capability will be in place before end of August so we can get a timely response. Please note…Former members will be invited to attend and will be expected to pay $30 per person to cover expenses.
Motion was made and passed to have Ike Iglehart, Sr. along with two other members to select a shirt for our 20th anniversary at a cost less than or equal to $40.
Roy Rogers Funeral Service – Warren Lee
Members were reminded that the Wake and Funeral Services would be held for our beloved Roy Rogers on Friday, June 23, 2003 and Saturday, June 24th respectively. All members were asked to have a show of force and be present if at all possible. National President Tom Sweeney would make remarks on behalf of the Pro Duffer organization.
Chapter Secretary Mike Edwards was asked to order a “Spray” in the emblem colors on behalf of the SW Pro Duffer members.
Old Business
Tournament Director – A recommendation was made to put before the general body of members, a vote to name our Turkey Shoot tournament after Roy Rogers at the Retreat.
New shirts for New Members – The decision was made to provide the new members with White and Cranberry shirts as their shirts of choice.
Texas State Tournament – will be held in Amarillo, Tx July 9-11…54 holes….SW Chapter members are asked to have a strong showing
New Business
It was suggested that applications for new members and new slate of officers be presented at the August meeting and would be decided upon in September.
Motion was made and passed that the Chapter buy 60 ties at a cost of $22 each.
Motion was made and passed that the SW Pro Duffers provide Danielle Mask with a $2,000 scholarship for the year 2003. It was also recommended that our Vice President, Jerry Woodard define a process for initial and follow-on allocations of scholarship funds for membership acceptance.
Remarks – Truman Thomas
Truman Thomas gave us an update on 2 clinics that were conducted by Leonard Jones at Houston, and Grover Keeton. It was also decided that we need (by June 30th) a written charter on what our objectives will be the for Jr. Golf program spearheaded by Jerry Woodard.
