Call to Order

Meeting called to Order at 7:15 p.m. by Chapter Vice President – Jerome Caulk

Minutes from the January Meeting

·        Minutes from the January meeting were accepted with the following amendment: Chairman Cuffee reported that final payment of $28K (not $27K) from State Farm has been processed.

National President’s Report – Tom Sweeney

bulletMemphis Chapter will host the 2004 Spring Fling (23rd – 25th)
bulletRegistration deadline for the Spring Fling March 24, 2004. Note that this event will accommodate only 128 players

bulletThe national election will take place September and procedures to handle to election are in progress. Anyone seeking national office should contact Jerry Woodard

Financial report – Malthus Northcutt

·        The body accepted the financial report as information only.

bulletFunds received from State Farm relating to the benefit tournament were deposit in the bank.

Junior Golf – Tom Sweeney

bulletThe committee is working on developing a program to select a small group of golfers to work with very closely from an age group of 7 – 17, committed to golf with passing school grades.

2004 Benefit Tournament – Russ Cuffee

bulletChairman Cuffee appointed Malthus Northcutt to handle all financial transactions with a local bank relating to the benefit Tournament.
bulletIt was suggested that we consider State Farm Bank to handle the club financial transactions. We can raise approximately $50K if each Pro Duffer obtains $500 in sponsorship
bulletJunior Golf mission can help us sell the merits of being a sponsor
bulletWe can provide a team of salesmen to achieve the above
bulletMotion was made, seconded and passed that we have our benefit tournament at Doral for the next five years if we can add a performance clause to the contract

bulletA motion was made to accept the 2004 tournament schedule. It was second and accepted. See website for additional information.

2004 Benefit Tournament – Russ Cuffee

bulletChairman Cuffee reported that final payment of $27K from State Farm has been processed
bulletChairman Cuffee appointed several sub-committee to work on various activities surrounding the event
bulletThe registration fee is $125.00 per player and $150.00 after July 17,2004.
bulletAll tournament packages will be available at the March meeting.
bulletThe committee received the contract and is currently reviewing it with our Legal Department.
bulletThe tournament format was explained for all three days and will include our Junior Golfers at Friday’s event.
bulletThe next committee meeting will be held March 6, 2004 (Doral)

bulletJoe Austin: Susan-Lori Parks; the first African American woman ever to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Drama is presenting a play “Topdog/Underdog’ at the Dallas Theater Center. Dates: February 25th – March 21st.  For ticket info call 214-522-8499.
