Meeting called to order by Mr. Thomas Sweeney, President at 7:10 P.M.
Minutes from the Fall Retreat were read and accepted.
Correspondence read at the meeting, a big Thank You from Parkland’s Bluitt & Flowers Health Center.
The Agenda was distributed.
Members present: Howard Aldridge, Andy Flye, Leroy Harris, Ike Iglehart Sr., Warren Lee, Joe Long, Dan Mask, Roy McClaney, John Nelson, Russell Satchell, Thomas Sweeney, Truman Thomas, Zack Walker, Carl Williams,
Lee Adger, Aric Cooper, Ira Murry, Lyod Iglehart III.
Financial report read by the president in the absence of Mr. Malthus Norcutt. As of December 31, 2000 our checking account balance is $6,263.76 and the savings account balance is $7,515.07. The tournament account
balance is $2,103.50 as of January 15, 2001. We will have a written financial report as soon as Mr. Norcutt returns.
The new members that were present were introduced and welcomed again.
A fund raiser proposal was introduced by Mr. Dan Evans, called “ Men
Who Cook”(your specialty of course). The concept is to have as many members as possible head a group of people preparing their specialty to be served at some location with the facilities to provide a large cook
out. All the food would be sold. Dan will also head up a committee to review and work out all the details. The committee members will be Vernon Bland, Russell Satchell, Jerome Caulk, Jerry Woodard for a feasibility study. A motion was made by Leroy Harris and seconded by Lorenzo Dixon to form the committee and report at the next
meeting.
Mr. Andy Flye reported on Handicaps. All handicaps are up to date for the up coming season.
Report on the Foundation and the Junior Golf Program was given by Truman Thomas. Mr. Thomas reported that 32 members donated $500.00 to the Junior Golf Program. Mr. Howard Aldridge gave a preview of up coming events for the junior golfer
activities this year.
Tournament Director, Mr. Roy McClaney presented the tournament schedule for 2001. There is one change, the June 9, 2001 tournament at Hidden Creek will move to June 23, 2001, because of a conflict with the Little
Rock Tournament dates of June 8,9, and 10, 2001.
A New Change this year, All tournament players will use the same tees, with one exception, 70 years and older will tee off from the very forward tees.
Flight handicaps: 0-9 Championship, 10-15 First Flight, 16 and up Second Flight. A motion was made to except changes by Warren Lee and seconded by Leroy Harris.
No report on the Constitution and By Laws, waiting for Mr. Mike Edwards.
No report from Benefits Director, Mr. Jerry Woodard, but the president expressed a concern to have a deadline for registration.
Dan Mask presented some proposals for funding the Texas State Amateur Junior Golfers statewide and for selecting junior golfers for play and other activities including scholarships.
Note: The Spring Fling will be in Gulf Port (Casino) Mississippi, April 27, 28, and 29, 2001. A discussion will be held at the next meeting on transportation. The National will be held at the
Montego, Bay Jamaica Lodging at the Windom Rose Hotel, September 20-23, 2001.
