PRO DUFFERS SOUTHWEST CHAPTER
JANUARY 2002 GENERAL MEETING
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by our president Warren Lee.
We were led in prayer by Harvey Lyons..
Motion was made and seconded to accept last minutes from the RETREAT as noted on the produffer website. Mike Edwards and Tom Sweeney will handle our local website.
Financial report was given by Mr. Northcult. It was stated that Mr. Leroy has relocated to Atlanta. Mr. Northcult agreed to accept the financial secretary role in his absence. As of 1/24
$ 7,264.39 in checking and $ 5,661.46 in savings. The debt of the Banquet to Brookhaven and Mr. Mayberry fall retreat are still outstanding. Motion approved to accept.
Mr. Sweeney reported that the tournament account had a year end balance of $ 1,062.08. Our goal was to maintain a ending balance of $ 2,000 which was equal to the beginning balance. Due to unforeseen circumstances the produffers LOST / Donated $ 1,074.08 to the Parkland Hospital tournament.
Mr. President review the MOTTO, GOALS and COMMITTEE CHAIR assignments for 2002. Motion was made and accepted for the assignments. Names will be posted on the produffer website. It was recommended that each produffer participate on a committee.
Mr. President reviewed the 2002 meeting schedule which will have General meeting in January, April and July. Committee meeting (all committees together) February, May, August. Meetings in March, June and September will be focused on RULES and SKILLS development. Specific locations will be announced. Yep, we are gonna focus on speed of play and lowering that handicap.
Mr. President announced key dates:
Produffer National: September 19-22 (all members to participate)
Annual Benefit: August 2-4 (all members to participate)
Spring Fling: April 26-28 (Mobile, Alabama - $ 300 , registration $ 40.00 call Dan Mask)
Club Championship: September 7-8
Tx. State Amateur Golf Assoc: July 10-13 (Eagle Bluff, Tyler---target 40 produffers)
Littlerock Produffer Benefit: May 24-26 (target 25 to RIDE BUS to tournament)
OLD Business:
Mr. Mask reviewed the Tx. State Amateur as note above. Price is great. They expect a full field. Pay early to participate and represent the DUFFERS state wide.
New Business:
Mr. President got input from the body on possibly having some type of meeting on Saturday mornings followed by golf play. The body was in favor. More to come.
Mr. President talked about the Spring Fling in Mobile, Alabama.
Mr. Truman Thomas gave an exceptional report on the Northeast Texas Jr Golf and Educational Foundation. Produffers are invited to participate in many ways. Produffer members will identify and cultivate a relationship with ONE or more Jr. golfers. Yep.......you need to find on your own a jr golfer that will participate in the "to be defined" 1st TEE Jr golf program. See Mr. Woodard for more information.
Mr. Mask made several comments into the investments required to have our produffer jr golfers recognized state and national wide.
Remarks:
RL Turner scramble golf tournament March 24. Dan Mask would like to have 30 produffers to participate. The body overwhelmingly agreed to participate in support of Danielle Mask, our jr golfer.
