General Meeting
July 24, 2003
Meeting called to Order at 7:00 p.m. by Chapter President - Warren Lee
Opening prayer was led by Truman Thomas

National President’s Report – Tom Sweeney
| Tom will organize the distribution of $20 mulligans for the Benefit tournament. | |

| National Registration is on going. Reaching the 100 mark. Dallas Chapter needs 10 members | |
| to be able to compete for the National Club Championship. |

Tournament Committee – Jerome Caulk
| Tournament director Jerome Caulk reported a balance of $3,109. Report accepted as information only. | |
| Jerome indicated SW Pro Duffers would adopt a handicap Index for all future tournaments vs. straight handicap recording method. | |
| The two new shirts (navy and yellow) were distributed to members who previously paid for shirts and/or were present and prepared to pay following the conclusion of the meeting. These shirts will be worn during our Benefit Tournament. Final uniform code for tournament play will be posted on the website prior to the tournament and subject to change pending receipt of the 20th anniversary shirt. |
2003 Benefit Tournament – Russ Cuffee
Chairman Cuffee reported that Sponsorship efforts player registrations are going well, and the tournament is slated to be a major success, however:
THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 31ST AT THE WESTIN CENTER HOTEL TO FINALIZE SEVERAL ITEMS!!
| Effective July 20th, the entry fee for the tournament is now $150.00 | |
| At this point we have 17 Corporate Sponsors | |
| If you have a quantity of 128 for items suitable for “goodie” bags please let the benefit tournament committee members know asap | |
| Ninety-two Players have paid-to-date…still need 29 additional players (who must now pay $150 entry fee) | |
| Only a handful of members have met their financial commitment of delivering a minimum of $400 in financial contributions…remember, this commitment can be met in a number of ways (ex., obtaining sponsorships, selling ads, getting 4 players to play, etc.) | |
| August 1st @ 10:00pm is the tentative cut-off for acceptance of entry fees | |
| Jr. Golf Clinic is all set and ready to go…details to be posted on website | |
| Hotel has been renamed from the LeMeridien to the Westin City Center – Dallas | |
| There will be 3 T-Boxes and play will be as follows: Men’s Championship & 1st Flight from GOLD Tees; All other Men’s flights from BLUE Tees; Ladies from WHITE Tees. |
20th Anniversary – Dan Evans
Dan Evans indicated that the code of conduct will be wrapped up by the Retreat
Roy Rogers Funeral Service – Warren Lee
Members had a very strong show of force at both the Wake and Funeral services for our beloved Roy Rogers on Friday, June 23, 2003 and Saturday, June 24th respectively.
Old Business
| Members were reminded that applications (which can be found on the website) for new members and the new slate of officers should be presented at the August meeting with a vote taking place at our September meeting | |
| Andy Flye in collaboration with Big Daddy will redefine the New Member indoctrination process to ensure proper expectations are set |
New Business
The September meeting will be held on September 18th to avoid conflict with the national meeting and tournament.
Remarks – Andy Flye
Andy Flye expressed strong disappointment in the slow play experienced during our Mansfield tournament and made a passionate plea that we make a concerted effort to sensitize all tournament participants to this issue so we can avoid this in the future especially given the hot climate conditions.
